This page describes the text messaging programme PestPing operates on behalf of pest control companies. If you received a text and want to know what it was, who sent it, or how to stop it, you are in the right place.
1. The programme
PestPing sends text messages on behalf of pest control companies to their own existing customers. There are three kinds:
| Type | Example |
|---|---|
| Appointment reminder | "Hi Sarah, this is Green Valley Pest Control. Your quarterly treatment is tomorrow at 10:00 AM. Reply C to confirm or R to reschedule." |
| Missed-call reply | "Sorry we missed your call! This is Green Valley Pest Control. How can we help?" |
| Review request | "Thanks for choosing us, Sarah! Mind leaving a quick Google review? Reply STOP to opt out." |
The pest control company named in the message is the business you have the relationship with. PestPing operates the messaging for them.
2. How you opt in
You receive these messages only if you gave your mobile number to that pest control company and agreed to be texted about your service. Consent is collected by the company, in one of these ways:
- Ticking an unticked box on their booking or contact form
- Signing a service agreement that includes a clear text messaging clause
- Agreeing over the phone, where the company records that you agreed
- Texting their number first
Review requests are promotional, so they require separate written consent. Agreeing to appointment reminders alone does not sign you up for review requests. Consent is never a condition of getting pest control service, and your number is never bought from a list or shared between companies.
3. Message frequency
Message frequency varies depending on how many appointments you have. In practice most customers receive a small number of messages per service visit, typically a reminder before the visit and, where consented, one review request after it.
4. Message and data rates
Message and data rates may apply. PestPing and the pest control company do not charge you for these messages, but your mobile carrier may charge you for messages sent or received, depending on your plan.
5. How to stop
Reply STOP to any message and the messages end immediately. We also accept UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END and QUIT. You will receive one confirmation that you have been unsubscribed, and nothing after that.
If you want to start again later, contact the pest control company directly and ask them to re-enrol you.
6. How to get help
Reply HELP to any message and you will receive the name of the business texting you and how to reach them. You can also email us at hello@pestping.com with the mobile number, and we will tell you which company sent the message and remove your number if you ask.
7. Carriers
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is not guaranteed and depends on your carrier and your device.
8. Privacy
Your mobile number and your consent are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. They are shared only with the providers that deliver the messages. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy, and the agreement with our clients is in our Terms of Service.
